WHAT DYNA FUSIDIC CREAM IS USED FOR Dyna Fusidic Cream contains fusidic acid. It is a type of antibiotic. Dyna Fusidic Cream works by killing germs (bacteria) that cause infections. Dyna Fusidic Cream is used to treat conditions where the skin is infected by germs (bacteria), such as: • Acne (skin problem that occurs when hair follicles are blocked by dead skin cells & oil), • Impetigo (a weeping, crusty and swollen patch of skin), • Infected wounds, • Folliculitis (inflammation of the hair follicles), • boils (deep, localized skin infections that begin as reddened, sore areas), • Sycosis barbae (infection of the chin or bearded region), • Carbuncles (painful and contagious clusters of boils), • Hidradenitis (chronic skin disease characterized by recurrent boil-like lumps (nodules) under the skin), • paronychia (soft tissue infection around a fingernail), • Erythrasma (condition affecting the skin folds such as under the arms, in the groin and between the toes). MAL18026194AZ CONTENT & DESCRIPTION Dyna Fusidic Cream contains fusidic acid 2% w/w. White cream with natural fragrance. FOR EXTERNAL (TOPICAL) USE ONLY PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES Pharmacodynamic properties Fusidic acid is a potent antibacterial agent. Fusidic acid and its salts show fat and water solubility and strong surface activity and exhibit unusual ability to penetrate intact skin. Concentrations of 0.03 - 0.12 mcg fusidic acid per ml inhibit nearly all strains of Staphylococcus aureus. Topical application of fusidic acid is also effective against streptococci, corynebacteria, neisseria and certain clostridia. Pharmacokinetic properties Fusidic acid is excreted mainly in the bile with little excreted in the urine. CLINICAL PARTICULARS Therapeutic indications DYNA FUSIDIC CREAM is indicated for treatment of skin infections caused by staphylococci, streptococci, Propionibacterium acnes, Corynebacterium minutissimum, and other organisms sensitive to fusidic acid. The most important indications being: impetigo, infected wounds, folliculitis, boils, sycosis barbae, carbuncles, hidradenitis, paronychia, erythrasma. DYNA FUSIDIC CREAM is a non-staining preparation, it is cosmetically acceptable for treatment of face and scalp infections. Direction for Use Apply DYNA FUSIDIC CREAM to the affected area 2-3 times daily, generally for a period of 7 days, except in treatment of acne where therapy should be extended for a longer period according to the nature of this disease. Contraindications Known hypersensitivity to fusidic acid/sodium fusidate or to any of the excipients (refer section on ‘List of Excipients’). Infection caused by non-susceptible organisms. SPECIAL WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS FOR USE Bacterial resistance has been reported to occur with the use of fusidic acid. As with all antibiotics, extended or recurrent use may increase the risk of developing antibiotic resistance. Extended or recurrent use may increase the risk of developing contact sensitisation.
