WHAT ROYCE RIFAMPICIN CAPSULE
IS USED
FOR
Royce Rifampicin Capsule is used for the
treatment
of
tuberculosis
in
combination
with other antibiotics.
HOW ROYCE RIFAMPICIN CAPSULE
WORKS
The
active
ingredient,
rifampicin,
is
an
antibiotic
that
belongs
to
a
group
of
medicine
called
rifampin.
It
works
by
killing or stopping the growth of bacteria
and
other
organisms
causing
non-
tuberculosis and tuberculosis infections.
BEFORE
YOU
USE
ROYCE
RIFAMPICIN
CAPSULE
_When you must not use it: _
Do not take Royce Rifampicin Capsule if
you are:
•
have jaundice (liver disease).
•
allergic
to
rifampicin
or
any
other
ingredients used in this medicine.
•
in
first
trimester
of
pregnancy,
premature and newborn infants.
•
Concomitant
saquinavir
/
ritonavir
therapy
_-Before you start to use it: _
Tell your doctor of pharmacist if:
•
you
have
allergies
to
any
other
medicines, foods, preservatives or dyes.
•
you have liver failure.
•
you
have
any
signs
of
an
overt
meningococcal infection.

you are taking or have recently taken

medicines,

medicines
obtained

a

PHARMACOLOGICAL INFORMATION
Rifampicin inhibits DNA-dependant RNA polymerize of mycobacteria and
other microorganisms, leading to
suppression of initiation of chain formation (but not chain
elongation) in RNA synthesis. More specifically, the B
subunit of this complex enzymes in the site of action of the drug. RNA
polymerase from mammalian cells does
not bind Rifampicin, and RNA synthesis is correspondingly unaffected.
It inhibits the growth of most gram-positive bacteria as well as
gram-negative microorganisms as Escherichia coli,
Pseudomonas, indole, positive and negative against Neisseria
miningitidis. Minimal inhibitory concentrations
range from 0.1 to 0.8μg/ml. It also inhibits the growth of certain
types of viruses. Rifampicin is readily absorbed
from the gastrointestinal tract and peak serum concentrations of about
8μg/ml have been reported 2 hours after a
dose of 450mg and 27μg/ml after
