Terapeutické indikace:

How Pentamidine, powder for injection solution is used: a) Pneumonia due to the Pneumocystis carinii, in weak, sick patients or the immunocompromised, such as for former patients with SIDA. These patients can have serious reactions to the treatment with cotrimoxazol. Penamine isethionate is particularly valid in patients with a history of sulfonamides allergy. The pneumonia for P.carinii is the more common lethal infection opportunist in patients with Syndrome of Acquired Immunodeficiency b) precocious phase of African sleeping sickness, due to Trypanosoma gambiense c) Treatment of Leishmaniosis (Kala-azar), visceral and cutaneous. All the previously cited indications can be treated by means of parenteral administration of the product. The pneumonia due to P.carinii can also be treated by means of oral inhalation aiming at the presence of these microorganisms in the alveolar space.
