An electrode is attached to an appropriate electrosurgical handpiece (pencil/cord) in order to provide an active electrical connection between the output terminals of an electrosurgical generator and the patient. The emitted energy is used for dissection and or hemostasis/cauterising of tissue at the desired site on the patient. This device is a monopolar electrode that comes in various configurations and is used in many kinds of surgery. Forceps come in a variety of styles with serrated tips/jaws, the intended use of this device when connected to the output terminals of an electrosurgical generator in conjunction with a cord is to achieve the constriction and sealing of blood vessels during surgery to prevent bleeding.
