Date of Revision WHAT MOTIDOM IS USED FOR MOTIDOM is used for the relief of the symptoms of nausea and vomiting. HOW MOTIDOM WORKS It works by blocking the chemical messenger in the brain that causes the feeling of nausea and vomiting. It also increases the movement or contractions of the stomach and intestine, allowing food to move easily through your digestive system. BEFORE YOU USE MOTIDOM - When you must not use it • Have allergic reaction to the active ingredient domperidone, or to any other ingredients in this product. • Have a tumour of the pituitary gland in your brain that overproduces the hormone prolactin(prolactinoma) • Have moderate to severe liver impairment • Have heart problems • Have gastrointestinal bleeding, obstruction or perforation • Are taking certain medicines (Refer to section “Taking other medicines”) MOTIDOM is not recommended for routine prevention of postoperative vomiting or for long term administration of more than 12 weeks. - Before you start to use it Tell your doctor if you: • Have kidney problem • Have electrolyte abnormalities • Have allergies to any other medicines, foods, preservatives or dyes. If you are not sure whether you should start taking this product, consult your doctor. - Taking other medicines Some medicine and MOTIDOM may interfere with each other. Do not use MOTIDOM if you are taking certain medicines for: • Irregular heartbeat (e.g. amiodarone) • Psychology disorder (e.g. haloperidol) or depression (e.g. citalopram, escitalopram) • Antibiotics (e.g. erythromycin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin, clarithromycin), antifungals, antimalarial • Digestive problems Llegiu el document complet
MOTIDOM ORAL SUSPENSION DESCRIPTION Motidom Oral Suspension is a white suspension. CONTENT Each ml of oral suspension contains 1 mg domperidone. INDICATIONS Domperidone is indicated for the relief of the symptoms of nausea and vomiting. This includes: • Nausea and vomiting of functional, organic, infectious or dietary origin. • Nausea and vomiting induced by : - radiotherapy or drug therapy - dopamine agonists (such as L-dopa and bromocriptine) used in the treatment of Parkin- son’s disease. DOSAGE It is recommended to take oral Motidom Oral Suspension 15 to 30 minutes before meals. If taken after meals, absorption of the drug is somewhat delayed. Adults and adolescents who are 12 years of age and older and weighing 35 kg and more; and children younger than 12 years old and weighing 35 kg and more. The dose of Motidom Oral Suspension should be the lowest effective dose for the individual situation (typically 30 mg/day) and can be increased if necessary to a maximum daily oral dose of 40 mg. Usually, the maximum treatment duration should not exceed one week for the treatment of acute nausea and vomiting. If nausea and vomiting persists for longer than one week, patients should consult their physician. For other indications, the initial duration of treatment is up to four weeks. If treatment exceeds four weeks, patients should be reevaluated and the need for continued treatment reassessed. Formulation Dosage Maximum (domperidone dose per day per unit) Film-coated 1 tablet three 40 mg (4 x 10 mg tablet to four times tablet) (10 mg/tablet) per day Oral suspension 10 ml three to 40 mg (40 ml of (1 mg/ml) four times per 1 mg/ml oral day suspension) Adults and adolescents who are 12 years of age and older and weighing less than 35 kg The dose of Motidom Oral Suspension should be the lowest effective dose. The total daily dose is dependent on weight (see table below). Usually, the maximum treatment duration should not exceed one week for the treatment of acute nausea and vomiting.
