PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Prospan
®
Cough Syrup is a light brown, slightly
cloudy syrup which tastes sweet and fruity and
smells of cherry.
COMPOSITION:
_Active ingredient: _100 ml solution contains 0.7 g
of hedera helix extract from leaf (5 – 7.5 : 1), 0.134 g
of potassium sorbate (preservative).
_Other ingredients: _anhydrous citric acid, xanthan
gum, aroma, sorbitol solution 70 %. 2.5 ml of
solution contains 0.963 g of the sugar substitute
sorbitol = 0.08 BU.
INDICATIONS:
Traditionally used for relief of cough, throat irri-
tation and reducing phlegm.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
In the event of fructose intolerance, treatment
should be carried out only after consultation
with a doctor.
PREGNANCY AND BREAST-FEEDING:
Insufficient reliable data. This medicine should
not be used, as there have not been enough
studies
performed
on
pregnant
women
and
mothers who breastfeed.
This is a traditional medicine. Please consult your
pharmacist/doctor if symptoms persist/worsen.
SIDE EFFECTS:
In rare cases, Prospan
®
Cough Syrup may have a
laxative effect due to the content of sorbitol in
the product.
INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER DRUGS:
Adverse effects have not become known with
the simultaneous ingestion of Prospan
®
Cough
Syrup and other medicines. This preparation can
therefore be combined safely with other medi-
cines, such as antibiotics for example.
DOSAGE GUIDELINES AND METHOD OF USE:
Children (1-5 years): Please consult a doctor/
pharmacist before taking this product. Take 2.5 ml
3 times daily. Schoolchildren (6-9 years) and
adolescents (>10 years) take 5 ml 3 times daily,
and adults take 5-7.5 ml of solution 3 times daily.
