Phenylephrine hydrochloride is intended for the maintenance of an adequate level of blood pressure during spinal and inhalation anaesthesia and for the treatment of vascular failure in shock, shock-like states, and drug-induced hypotension, or hypersensitivity. It is also employed to overcome paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia, to prolong spinal anaesthesia, and as a vasoconstrictor in regional analgesia.

If you are worried about using this medicine, speak to your doctor or pharmacist. 1. WHY AM I USING PHENYLEPHRINE CIPLA? Phenylephrine Cipla contains the active ingredient phenylephrine hydrochloride. Phenylephrine Cipla is used to increase your blood pressure and slow down your heart, for example, during surgery or in states of shock. It does this by causing constriction (narrowing) of your blood vessels. For more information, see Section 1. Why am I using Phenylephrine Cipla? in the full CMI. 2. WHAT SHOULD I KNOW BEFORE I USE PHENYLEPHRINE CIPLA? Do not use if you have ever had an allergic reaction to phenylephrine hydrochloride or any of the ingredients listed at the end of the CMI. TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER MEDICAL CONDITIONS, TAKE ANY OTHER MEDICINES, OR ARE PREGNANT OR PLAN TO BECOME PREGNANT OR ARE BREASTFEEDING. Your doctor will discuss the risks and benefits of being given Phenylephrine Cipla during pregnancy and in case of breastfeeding. For more information, see Section 2. HOW DO I USE PHENYLEPHRINE CIPLA? • Phenylephrine Cipla can be given to you in three ways: a) as a slow injection or infusion (drip) into a vein, b) as a deep injection into a muscle; c) as an injection just under the skin. Sometimes it is diluted before use and given with fluids into a vein. • Your doctor will determine how you will be given this medicine. Phenylephrine Cipla must only be given by a doctor or nurse.
