WHAT BECONASE IS USED FOR
Beconase is used to prevent and treat:
•
Inflammation in the lining of your
nose (rhinitis) due to seasonal
allergies, such as Hayfever.
•
Inflammation in the lining of your
nose (rhinitis) due to year round
(perennial) allergies, such as animal
allergies.
HOW BECONASE WORKS
Beconase Aqueous Nasal Spray
contains a medicine called
beclometasone dipropionate. This
belongs to a group of medicines called
steroids (also called ‘corticosteroids’).
•
steroids work by reducing
inflammation
•
they reduce swelling and irritation
in your nose
•
this helps to relieve itching,
sneezing and your blocked or runny
nose.
BEFORE YOU USE BECONASE

Do not use Beconase if you are
allergic to beclometasone dipropionate
or any of the other ingredients of this
medicine
Do not use in children under 6 years
old

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding,
think you may be pregnant or are
planning to have a baby, ask your
doctor or pharmacist for advice before
taking this medicine.
If you experience visual disturbances
such as loss of vision, cloudy or
blurred vision, speak to your doctor.

other medicines, including medicines
obtained without a prescription. This
includes herbal medicines.
Check with your doctor or pharmacist
before using your medicine if:

Beclomethasone -dipropionate
QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE COMPOSITION
BECONASE Aqueous Nasal Spray is a presentation of an aqueous suspension of
microfine beclomethasone dipropionate delivered by a metering, atomising pump. Each
100 mg spray delivered by the nasal applicator contains 50 micrograms beclomethasone.

Aqueous Nasal Spray.
CLINICAL PARTICULARS
Indications
Prophylaxis and treatment of perennial and seasonal allergic rhinitis and vasomotor
rhinitis. Beclomethasone dipropionate BP has a potent anti -inflammatory effect within
the respiratory tract at doses which are not systemically active.
Dosage and Administration
BECONASE is for administration by the intranasal route only.
Adults and Children over 6 years of age:
The recomm ended dose is two applications into each nostril twice daily.
A dosage regimen of one application into each nostril three or four times daily may be
preferred.
Total daily administration should not normally exceed 8 puffs (400 micrograms).
For full thera peutic benefit regular usage is essential.
The co -operation of the patient should be sought to comply with the regular dosage
schedule and it should be explained that maximum relief may not be obtained within the
first few applications.
Children under six years old:
There are insufficient clinical data to recommend use.
