HOW _VIODIN SOLUTION _WORKS
Viodin
solution
_ _
is
broad-spectrum
antiseptic
which
contains
a
medicine
called Povidone-Iodine that rapidly kills
all classes of pathogenic and potentially
pathogenic
microorganism
including
protozoa,
spores
and
viruses,
fungi
or
yeast, gram positive and gram-negative
bacteria. It is virtually non-irritating to
the skin and mucosa. It does not stain
fabrics and is effective even in presence
of blood, pus or necrotic tissue.

Povidone -Iodine USP (10% w/v)
COMPOSITION
Viodin 10% w/v Solution- 15 ml: Each 15 ml solution contains
Povidone-Iodine USP 1.5 gm.
Viodin 10% w/v Solution 100 ml: Each 100 ml solution contains
Povidone-Iodine USP 10 gm.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
A deep brown liquid having characteristic odor, filled and sealed in
plastic container.
INDICATION
- Cuts and bruises
- Wounds and burns
- Bacterial and mycotic (fungal) skin infections eg. at groins, feet
- Herpes simplex, Herpes genitalis
- Disinfection of perineal wounds and skin
- Pre and post-operative disinfection and preparing of the skin
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Apply undiluted to wounds, burns, cuts and bruises or areas infected
by bacteria or fungi. Apply a few
times a day.
ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION
Topical
CONTRAINDICATION
It
is
contraindicated
in
known
or
suspected
iodine
hypersensitivity
to
iodine.
Regular
use
is
contraindicated in patients or users with thyroid disorders (in
particular nodular colloid goitre,
endemic goitre and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis). Povidone-Iodine is not
recommended for regular use in
neonates and is contraindicated in very low birth weight infants
(below 1500 grams).
WARNING AND PRECAUTION
Use of this preparation may interfere with tests of thyroid function.
Iodine is absorbed through burns
and broken skin and to a lesser extent through intact skin and may
lead to toxic levels of iodine in the
blood, particularly in patients with renal insufficiency. If used for
long periods thyroid function tests
should be performed. Particular care should be taken when treating
patients with excessive burns.
Use of this preparation in patients with renal impairment may possibly
result in the development of
toxic levels of iodine. Therefore, iodine levels should be monitored
in these patients. Particular care
should also be taken when treating neonates and very low birth weight
infants. Avoid contact with
eyes. In case of contact with the eyes, immediately flush the eyes
liberally with water for at least 15
minutes and seek
