6 December 2017 DIN 01971530 PR SULFA MT Sodium Sulfamethazine / Sulfaméthazine sodique 66 g/100 g Sodium Sulfathiazole / Sulfathiazole sodique 33 g/100 g VETERINARY USE ONLY/ USAGE VÉTÉRINAIRE SEULEMENT ANTIBIOTIC/ANTIBIOTIQUE ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: Contains: Per g Per 567 g Sodium Sulfamethazine 660.0 mg 374.2 g Sodium Sulfathiazole 330.0 mg 187.1 g A water soluble powder containing 1/3 sulfathiazole sodium, 2/3 sulfamethazine sodium for oral administration. INDICATIONS: For use in swine and cattle as an aid in the treatment of infections, associated or complicated by bacteria susceptible to sulfamethazine and/or sulfathiazole: CATTLE: Pneumonia, metritis, enteritis (scours), foot rot, septicemia accompanying acute mastitis and pasteurellosis (associated with the shipping fever complex). SWINE: Respiratory and enteric infections. DOSAGEAND ADMINISTRATION: _To reduce the development of antimicrobial resistance and maintain effectiveness, use this antibiotic prudently._ GROUP TREATMENT: Premix by dissolving the contents of one bag (567 g) in 10 L of water. Add this quantity of stock solution to 350 L of drinking water for the 1st day. For each of the next 5 days, add the same quantity of prepared stock solution to 500 L of drinking water. INDIVIDUAL TREATMENT: Prepare either a 12.5% or a 25%solution by dissolving the contents of one bag (567 g) or two bags (1134 g), respectively, in water to make a total volume of 4.5 L. Administer the prepared solutions as a drench at a dose of 80 mL of the 12.5% solution, or 40 mL of the 25% solution, per 50 kg body weight the first day, and per 100 kg of body weight per day for the next 3 days. Do not treat longer than 4 or 5 days. CAUTIONS: Severely dehydrated animals should not be treated with this drug. To maintain adequate hydration and to ensure adequate urine flow, water should be readily available to the animals being dosed individually with this drug.
