Date of revision WHAT PONTALON FILM COATED TABLE T IS USED FOR For the relief of mild to moderate pain including muscular, traumatic and dental pain, headache, after operation and after childbirth pain, and dysmenorrhea (menses pain). HOW PONTALON FILM COATED TABLE WORKS Mefenamic acid is in a class of medications called NSAIDs. It works by stopping the body's production of a substance that causes pain, fever, and inflammation. BEFORE YOU USE PONTALON FILM COATED TABLET _-When you must not use it _ Do not take PONTALON FILM COATED TABLET if: - you have hypersensitivity or allergic reaction to mefenamic acid, or the ingredients listed at the end of this leaflet. Reactions may include asthma, runny nose, skin rash, and face swelling. If you think you may be allergic, ask your doctor for advice. - you have inflammatory bowel disease - you have stomach or intestinal ulceration - you have kidney or liver disease. _-Before you start to use it _ Tell your doctor if you have or have had: - ulceration, bleeding or perforation of the stomach and intestinal - elderly - smoking and alcoholism - history of diarrhea in the past caused by NSAIDs - kidney or liver disease - seizure - heart disease or stroke - high blood pressure - fluid retention - dyspepsia (discomfort at the epigastric region due to digestion problem) Mefenamic acid may cause severe skin reactions, e.g. exfoliative dermatitis, toxic epidermal necrolysis, Steven- Johnson Syndrome.
