DESCRIPTION AND COMPOSITION _KLACID 250 MG TABLETS:_ A yellow, ovaloid film-coated tablet containing 250 mg of clarithromycin. _KLACID 125MG/5ML GRANULES FOR ORAL SUSPENSION: _White to off - white granules for reconstitution. After mixing each 5 ml of suspension contains 125 mg clarithromycin. CLINICAL PARTICULARS THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS Consideration should be given to official guidance on the appropriate use of antibacterial agents. Klacid 250 mg Tablets is indicated in adults and children 12 years and older. Klacid Granules 125 mg/5ml is indicated in children 6 months to 12 years. _ALL PHARMACEUTICAL FORMS_: Indicated for treatment of infections caused by susceptible organisms. Indications include: Lower respiratory tract infections for example, acute and chronic bronchitis, and pneumonia Upper respiratory tract infections for example, sinusitis and pharyngitis. skin and soft tissue infections of mild to moderate severity, for example folliculitis, cellulitis and erysipelas _KLACID 250 MG TABLETS: _ Clarithromycin is appropriate for initial therapy in community acquired respiratory infections and has been shown to be active _in vitro_ against common and atypical respiratory pathogens as listed in the microbiology section. Clarithromycin in the presence of acid suppression effected by omeprazole or lansoprazole_ _ is also indicated for the eradication of _H. pylori_ in patients with duodenal ulcers. Clarithromycin is usually active against the following organisms in vitro: Gram-positive Bacteria: _Staphylococcus aureus_ (methicillin susceptible); _Streptococcus _ _pyogenes_ (Group A beta-haemolytic streptococci); alpha-haemolytic streptococci (viridans group_); Streptococcus (Diplococcus) pneumoniae; Streptococcus agalactiae; Listeria _ _monocytogenes_.
