WHAT NEXIUM IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR
Nexium contains a substance called esomeprazole. This belongs to a
group of medicines called proton
pump inhibitors. These work by reducing the amount of acid that your
stomach produces.
Nexium is used to treat the following conditions:
_Children over 1 year of age _
Nexium is used to treat a condition called “gastroesophageal reflux
disease” (GERD).
•
This is where acid from the stomach escapes into the gullet
(esophagus) causing pain,
inflammation and heartburn. Heartburn is a burning feeling rising from
the stomach or lower chest
up towards the neck.
•
In children, the symptoms of the condition can include the return of
stomach contents into the
mouth (regurgitation), being sick (vomiting) and poor weight gain.
_Children over 4 years of age_
•
Ulcers which are infected with bacteria called ‘
_Helicobacter pylori’_
. If your child has this condition,
your doctor may also prescribe antibiotics to treat the infection and
allow the ulcer to heal.

KVALITATIV OCH KVANTITATIV SAMMANSÄTTNING
1 dospåse innehåller: Esomeprazol 10 mg som magnesiumtrihydratsalt.
Hjälpämnen med känd effekt: Varje dospåse innehåller 6,8 mg
sackaros och 2,8 g glukos.

LÄKEMEDELSFORM
Enterogranulat till oral suspension, dospåse
Blekt gula små granulat. Brunaktiga granulat kan förekomma.

KLINISKA UPPGIFTER
4.1
TERAPEUTISKA INDIKATIONER
Nexium oral suspension är primärt indicerad för:
Pediatrisk population
_Barn i åldern 1-11 år_
_Gastroesofageal refluxsjukdom (GERD)_
•
behandling av endoskopiskt verifierad erosiv refluxesofagit
•
symtomatisk behandling av gastroesofageal refluxsjukdom (GERD)
_Barn över 4 års ålder_
I kombination med antibiotika vid behandling av duodenalsår orsakade
av
_Helicobacter pylori_
_Vuxna och ungdomar från 12 års ålder_
För indikationer hos patienter från 12 års ålder refereras till
produktresumé Nexium enterotabletter.
Nexium oral suspension kan också användas av patienter som har
svårt att svälja dispergerade Nexium
enterotabletter.

_Symtomatisk behandling av gastroesofageal refluxsjukdom (GERD)_
10 mg 1 gång dagligen i upp till 8 veckor.
Doser över 1 mg/kg/dag har inte studerats.
_Barn över 4 års ålder_
_Behandling av duodenalsår orsakade av Helicobacter pylori_
Vid val av lämplig kombinationsbehandling ska hänsyn tas till
officiella nationella, regionala och
lokala riktlinjer för bakterieresistens, behandlingstid (vanligen 7
dagar, men ibland upp till 14 dagar)
och lämplig användning av anti
