WHAT DAPRIL IS USED FOR
Dapril
contains
Lisinopril
dihydrate
which belongs to a group of medicines
known
as
angiotensin
converting
enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. “DAPRIL”
is used to treat:
-
Hypertension
(high
blood
pressure)
-
Heart failure, which means your
hear does not pump your blood
around your body as well as it
should
-
Heart attack (that may lead to a
weakening of your heart). Dapril
slows the weakening down.
-
Kidney
problems
related
to
diabetes and high blood pressure
HOW DAPRIL WORKS
This medicine works by widening your
blood vessels to make it easier for the
heart to pump blood through them to all
parts
of
your
body.
This
helps
to
reduce high blood pressure and it will
also help your heart to work better if
you have a damaged heart muscle
BEFORE YOU USE DAPRIL
_- When you must not use it _
_Do not use DAPRIL if: _
-
you are allergic to Lisinopril or any
other ingredients of this medicine ,
or
to
any
other
angiotension
converting
enzyme
(ACE)
inhibitor.
-
You have been previously treated
with
a
medicine
from
the
same
group of drugs as DAPRIL (ACE
inhibitors) and have had an allergic
reaction which caused swelling of
the hands, feet, or ankles, the face,
lips,
tongue
and/or
throat
with
difficulty
in
swallowing
or
breathing, or if you or a member of
your
family
have
had
a
similar
reaction
-
You
are
more
than
3
months
pregnant. (It is also better to avoid
DAPRIL
in
early
pregnancy-see
pregnancy section)
Take
DAPRIL
only
if
the
doctor
recommends you to do.

_Pregnancy and Breast-feeding _
You must tell your doctor if you think
you are (or might become) pregnant.
Your doctor will normally advise you
to
stop
taking
DAPRI

COMPOSITION
DAPRIL
(Lisinopril)
Each tablet contains either 5mg, 10mg or 20mg lisinopril as lisinopril
dihydrate.
PHARMACEUTICAL FORM
DAPRIL 5mg tablets are peach, round, convex tablets, 6mm in diameter,
for oral administration.
DAPRIL 10mg tablets are peach, round, convex tablets, 7mm in diameter,
for oral
administration. DAPRIL 20mg tablets are peach, round, convex tablets,
8mm in diameter, for oral
administration.
INDICATIONS
Hypertension: DAPRIL is indicated in the treatment of essential
hypertension and in renovascular hypertension. It
may be used alone or concomitantly with other classes of
antihypertensive agents.
Congestive Heart Failure: DAPRIL is indicated in the management of
congestive heart failure as an adjunctive
treatment with diuretics and where appropriate, digitalis.
Acute Myocardial Infarction: DAPRIL is indicated for the treatment of
haemodynamically stable patients within 24
hours of an acute myocardial infarction, to prevent the subsequent
development of left ventricular dysfunction or
heart failure and to improve survival. Patients should receive, as
appropriate, the standard recommended
treatment such as thrombolytics, aspirin and beta-blocker.
DOSAGE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
Tablets for oral administration taken once daily at approximately the
same time every day. Absorption of Lisinopril
is not affected by food.
The dose is individual for each patient according to his/her profile
and blood pressure response.
_Adults: _
_Hypertension: _The usual recommended starting dose is 10mg once a
day. Patients with renovascular hypertension,
volume depletion, heart failure or severe hypertension, may experience
an excessive fall of blood pressure after
taking the initial dose and therefore in such patients an initial dose
of 2.5-5mg is recommended. Initiation of
treatment should take place under medical supervision. Maintenance
dose, following careful dose titration
upwards, if required, is usually 20mg once a day. Generally if the
desired therapeutic effect is not achieved within
2 to 4 weeks,
