OCALIVA® Compresse rivestite con film

Che cos’è OCALIVA e quando si usa?

OCALIVA contiene il principio attivo acido obeticolico. OCALIVA viene impiegato su prescrizione

medica per il trattamento di una malattia del fegato denominata colangite biliare primitiva e

contribuisce al miglioramento della funzionalità epatica.

Di che cosa occorre inoltre tener conto durante il trattamento?

All’inizio del trattamento e poi a intervalli regolari, il suo medico effettuerà degli esami del sangue

per monitorare le condizioni del fegato. È importante rivolgersi al medico per fargli effettuare le

analisi del sangue raccomandate; queste comprendono anche gli esami del sangue per controllare i

livelli di colesterolo.

Quando non si può assumere/usare OCALIVA?

Se lei è ipersensibile (allergico) all’acido obeticolico o a uno degli altri componenti di OCALIVA, o

se lo è stato in passato.

Se le vie biliari sono completamente ostruite (occlusione del coledoco o del dotto cistico).

Bambini e adolescenti

OCALIVA non deve essere usato nei bambini e negli adolescenti. In questi gruppi di età, la colangite

biliare primitiva compare raramente.

Quando è richiesta prudenza nella somministrazione/nell’uso di OCALIVA?

Alcuni medicamenti per ridurre i livelli di colesterolo nel sangue, i cosiddetti sequestranti degli acidi

biliari (con i principi attivi colestiramina, colestipolo o colesevelam), possono attenuare l'effetto di

OCALIVA. Se sta assumendo uno di questi medicamenti, lo deve assumere almeno quattro ore

prima o quattro ore dopo l'assunzione di OCALIVA. Le compresse rivestite con film OCALIVA

hanno poca o nessuna influenza sulla capacità di condurre un veicolo o di utilizzare attrezzi o

macchine. Siccome, molto frequentemente, può comparire stanchezza dopo l’assunzione, non deve

condurre un veicolo o utilizzare macchine se si sente stanco.

Informi il suo medico o il suo farmacista nel caso in cui

-soffre di altre malattie,

-soffre di allergie o

-assume altri medicamenti (anche acquistati di sua iniziativa!).

Si può somministrare/usare OCALIVA durante la gravidanza o l’allattamento?

Se è in gravidanza o allatta al seno, se sospetta di essere in gravidanza o se desidera una gravidanza,

chieda consiglio al suo medico o al suo farmacista prima di assumere questo medicamento.

Come usare OCALIVA?

Prenda questo medicamento seguendo sempre esattamente le istruzioni del suo medico o del suo

farmacista. In caso di incertezze, non esiti a consultarli.

La dose raccomandata è di 5 mg una volta al giorno. Il suo medico può modificare la dose in base al

funzionamento del fegato o se soffre di prurito insopportabile.

A seconda della risposta dell’organismo al medicamento dopo tre mesi, il suo medico può aumentare

la dose fino a un massimo di 10 mg una volta al giorno. Il medico discuterà con lei qualsiasi

cambiamento della dose.

Non modifichi di propria iniziativa la posologia prescritta. Se ritiene che l’azione del medicamento

sia troppo debole o troppo forte ne parli al suo medico o al suo farmacista.

OCALIVA può essere assunto ai pasti o indipendentemente dai pasti.

Se ha assunto una quantità di OCALIVA superiore a quella prescritta

Se ha assunto per sbaglio una dose superiore a quella raccomandata, si rivolga immediatamente al

suo medico o al pronto soccorso dell'ospedale più vicino e chieda consigli. Tenga a portata di mano il

contenitore con le compresse, in modo da poter descrivere più facilmente quello che ha assunto.

Se ha dimenticato di assumere OCALIVA

Prenda la dose successiva all’ora prevista. Non prenda una quantità doppia se ha dimenticato

l’assunzione precedente.

Se interrompe l'assunzione di OCALIVA

Prosegua l’assunzione di OCALIVA fino a quando prescritto dal suo medico. Non interrompa

l'assunzione del medicamento senza aver prima consultato il suo medico.

L’uso e la sicurezza di OCALIVA nei bambini e negli adolescenti finora non sono stati esaminati.

Quali effetti collaterali può avere OCALIVA?

Molto frequentemente (possono interessare più di 1 persona su 10) sono stati osservati i seguenti

effetti collaterali: dolori addominali, prurito cutaneo o stanchezza.

Frequentemente (fino a 1 persona su 10) si possono osservare i seguenti effetti collaterali: disturbi

della funzione della tiroide, capogiri, palpitazioni, dolori alla bocca, stipsi, secchezza cutanea o

arrossamento della pelle (eczema), eruzione cutanea, dolori articolari, gonfiore alle mani e ai piedi,

febbre.

Se osserva effetti collaterali qui non descritti, dovrebbe informare il suo medico o il suo farmacista.

Di che altro occorre tener conto?

Il medicamento non dev’essere utilizzato oltre la data indicata con “Exp” sul contenitore.

OCALIVA va conservato nella confezione originale, a temperatura ambiente (15–25 °C) e fuori dalla

portata dei bambini.

Non smaltire i medicamenti nell’acqua di scarico o nei rifiuti domestici. Chieda al suo farmacista

come eliminare i medicamenti che non utilizza più. In questo modo contribuirà a proteggere

l’ambiente.

Il medico o il farmacista, che sono in possesso di un’informazione professionale dettagliata, possono

darle ulteriori informazioni.

1 compressa contiene 5 mg o 10 mg di acido obeticolico come principio attivo, nonché sostanze

ausiliarie.
