CATEGORIA FARMACOTERAPEUTICA

Grazie al suo potenziale ossidoriduttivo la vitamina C agisce

come cofattore in numerosi sistemi enzimatici (formazione del

collageno, sintesi delle catecolamine, idrossilazione di

steroidi, tirosina e sostanzeesogene, biosintesi della carnitina,

rigenerazione dell'acido tetraidrofolico e alfa-ammidazione di

peptidi, p.es. l'ACTH e la gastrina).

INDICAZIONI

Trattamento delle affezioni da stati carenziali di vitamina C (ad

es.scorbuto).

CONTROINDICAZIONI/EFFETTI SECONDARI

Urolitiasi da ossalati e malattie da accumulo di ferro

(talassemia, emocromatosi, anemia sideroblastica).

Ipersensibilita'nota al principioattivo o a uno qualsiasi degli

eccipienti.

POSOLOGIA

Agli adulti viene somministrata una compressa effervescente

(=1000 mgdi acido ascorbico) fino ad attenuazione dei sintomi.

Per i bambini e i pazienti affetti da insufficienza renale sono

disponibili prodotti medicinali contenenti dosi di acido

ascorbico inferiori.

Durante la gravidanza e l'allattamento si raccomanda di non

superareil dosaggio indicato.

INTERAZIONI

Sebbene siano state descritte le seguenti interazioni tra la

vitaminaC e altri farmaci, non e'stata documentata la loro

rilevanza al dosaggio proposto: La vitamina C alla dose di 1 g al

giorno aumenta la biodisponibilita'dei contraccettivi orali

(estrogeni).

I corticosteroidi aumentano l'ossidazione dell'acido ascorbico.

La calcitonina aumenta iltasso di metabolizzazione della vitamina

C. I salicilati inibiscono iltrasporto attivo attraverso

l'intestino.

Le tetracicline inibiscono il metabolismo intracellulare e il

riassorbimento a livello dei tubulirenali.

L'acido acetil-salicilico, i barbiturici e le tetracicline

incrementano l'escrezione della vitamina C nell'urina.

Sono stati riportati diversi casi in cui e' sembrato che l'acido

ascorbico abbia ridottol'effetto della warfarina.

L'acido ascorbico puo'diminuire l'effettoterapeutico delle

fenotiazine, nonche'la concentrazione della flufenazina.

L'uso contemporaneo di dosi elevate di acido ascorbico per

lunghiperiodi di tempo puo'interferire con interazione

disulfiram-alcol.

L'alcol riduce i livelli di acido acorbico.

EFFETTI INDESIDERATI

In casi isolati sono state osservate reazioni d

ipersensibilita'respiratoria e cutanea.
