These grapes are packed with a sulphur dioxide releasing product. Refrigerated shipping &

General

Instructions:

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

- Line carton with liner bag and if required, place absorbent paper at the bottom of the liner.

- Place grapes inside carton within the plastic liner.

- Use the UVASYS sheet recommended for the carton size, refer to table below. Do not cut

or modify the sheet.

- Place the UVASYS sheet on top of the grapes, with the printed shiny side up facing away

from the grapes.

- The UVASYS sheet has a layer of non-woven inert material adhered to the underside of

the sheet which acts as a barrier

between the grapes and the sheet. UVASYS is designed to be used with no paper at all

between the grapes and the UVASYS

sheet, or on top of the sheet, since paper absorbs unspecified amounts of SO2 gas.

- UVASYS SLOW RELEASE sheets MUST be used in conjunction with an initial SO2

fumigation.

- Fold the plastic liner over the UVASYS sheet & grapes, close the carton and cool to

storage temperature of 0oC+/-1oC as soon as

possible.

- Breaks in cold chain or incorrect post harvest temperature management can cause

increased levels of SO2, which could result in

bleaching.

- Examine grapes regularly during storage.

Resistance

Warning:

For fungicide resistance management UVASYS is a Group M fungicide. Some naturally

occurring individual fungi resistant to UVASYS and other Group M fungicides may exist

through normal genetic variability in any fungal population. The resistant individuals can

eventually dominate the fungal population if these fungicides are used repeatedly. These

resistant fungi will not be controlled by UVASYS and other Group M fungicides, thus

resulting in a reduction in efficacy & possible yield loss. Since the occurrence of resistant

fungi is difficult to detect prior to use, Tessara Pty Ltd accepts no liability for any losses that

may result from the failure of UVASYS to control resistant fungi.

Precautions:

These grapes are packed with a sulphur dioxide releasing product. Refrigerated shipping &

storage (0ºC+/-1 ºC) is ESSENTIAL.

The sheet must be removed before the grapes are displayed or allowed to warm.

Keep out of reach of children.

Store in the sealed, original packing in a cool, dry, well ventilated area out of direct sunlight.

Unused sheets can be used the following season if they have been stored in undamaged,

sealed polyethylene bags. This product is stable for 3 years if stored as indicated above.

Dispose the outer paper packaging of UVASYS packs by placing in a local authority landfill.

Collect used UVASYS sheets for disposal in a local authority landfill. They should not be

burnt.

Safety Directions:

May irritate eye, nose, throat and skin. After storage, open grape cartons containing

UVASYS sheets in a ventilated area. Sensitive workers (particularly asthmatics & those

with sulphite hypersensitivity) should avoid opening grape containers or handling UVASYS

sheets.

Section 3: Hazard Identification

EMERGENCY OVERVIEW:

No particular hazard under normal conditions of use. Wash thoroughly after

handling. Active ingredient (sodium metabisulphite) is encapsulated within wax

matrix. Contact with water, heat, acids and/or oxidising agents may produce toxic

gases. Contact with molten material may cause thermal burns.

Section 4: First Aid Measures

General Advice:

Skin:

Remove contaminated clothing.

Wash thoroughly with soap and water. If burned by hot material, cool skin by

quenching with large amounts of cool water. Seek medical attention if tissue

appears damaged or if pain or irritation persists.

Eyes:

Remove contact lenses, Flush eyes and surrounding areas with water for at least

15 minutes with eyelids held open. Consult physician if irritation persists.

Inhalation:

Remove to fresh air. Get immediate medical attention for overexposure to sulphur

dioxide gas and decomposition products. Inhale corticosteroid dose aerosol

immediately if necessary.

Ingestion:

Not expected to occur. Rinse mouth then drink large quantities of water.

Allergic Reactions:

If allergic reactions are experienced, especially in asthmatic or sulphite sensitive

individuals, seek medical advice as to whether exposure to the product should be

curtailed or eliminated.
