Whitefly

20-25 mL/L

water

Best results are achieved when applied while the pest

insects/ caterpillars are young; therefore regular

monitoring of plants is beneficial.

Use the higher rate and shorter interval when pest

infestations are more severe and when increased

residual protection is required.

Thorough coverage of all leaf surfaces is important

to obtain good control.

The adult stage of whitefly should be targeted. Do not

spray plants with a high population of the juvenile

stages of silverleaf whitefly unless using with another

insecticide that is effective against these stages.

Caterpillars,

Aphids,

Thrips and

Plant Bugs

5 - 10 mL/L

water

Apply at the first sign of pest infestation and before

pest populations build up to damaging levels. Repeat

as necessary at a 10 to 14 day interval. Best results

are obtained from preventative rather than curative

applications.

Indoor and

Outdoor trees,

shrubs and

flowering plants

Mites

10 - 15 mL/L

water

Use the higher dosage for knockdown of established

infestations or for longer residual control.

NOT TO BE USED FOR ANY PURPOSE OR IN ANY MANNER, CONTRARY TO THIS

LABEL UNLESS AUTHORISED.

WITHHOLDING PERIODS (WHP):

- CUCURBITS, TOMATOES, PEACHES, NECTARINES, PLUMS & APRICOTS:

DO NOT HARVEST FOR 1 DAY AFTER APPLICATION.

HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION

Health Effects:Studies with laboratory animals have shown this product to be slightly

toxic. Ingestion of large doses of bifenthrin, the active constituent in Talstar ®

3ME, by

laboratory animals produced signs of toxicity which included chronic convulsions, tremors

as numbing, burning and tingling. These skin sensations are reversible and usually

subside within 12 hours.

Acute

Swallowed: The rat Acute Oral LD

of the product is >5000mg/kg.

Eye: Minimally irritating

Skin:The Acute Dermal LD

(rat) of the product is >10 000mg/kg. It is non-irritating

Inhaled: The Acute Inhalation LC

for the rat is > 5mg/L/4 hour

Chronic

In studies with laboratory animals, bifenthrin, the active ingredient in Talstar ®

3ME did not

cause reproductive toxicity orteratogenicity. Tremors were associated with repeat

exposure of dogs, rats, rabbits and mice to bifenthrin. The overall results from a battery

ofgenotoxicity studies indicate that bifenthrin is not considered to begenotoxic.

FIRST AID

Ingestion: Rinse mouth with water. Dilute by giving 1-2 glasses of water. Do not

induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Seek medical advice immediately.

Eye contact:Flush with water for at least 15 minutes. If irritation occurs and persists,

Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. If breathing difficulty or discomfort occurs and

persists, seek medical advice.

ADVICE TO DOCTOR:

Antidote: Bifenthrin, the active ingredient in this product is a pyrethroid insecticide. The

product has low oral, dermal acute and inhalation toxicity, and is minimally irritating to the

eyes and non-irritating to the skin. Reversible skin sensations (parenthesia) may occur

and ordinary skin salves have been found useful in reducing discomfort. Treatment is

otherwise controlled removal of exposure followed by symptomatic and supportive care.

PRECAUTIONS FOR USE

Exposure standards: None established

Engineering controls: Use in well ventilated areas.

Personal protection: For normal handling wear long sleeve uniform or overalls. For

large exposures, as in the case of spills, wear full body cover barrier suit, such as a

rubber rain suit. Where potential for splash, spray or mist exists, wear chemical

protective goggles or a face shield. Emergency eye wash facilities should be located

nearby. Forvapour or mist exposure wear a half face respirator which is approved for

pesticides. Respirator selection is based on an airborne concentration. Wear chemical

protective gloves made of rubber or neoprene or PVC gauntlet-style gloves when

handling this product. Inspect regularly for leaks.
