DIRECTIONS FOR USE

DO NOT ADMINISTER TO SHEEP LESS THAN EIGHT WEEKS OF AGE.

Dose all sheep over 8 weeks of age with 1 (one) Cobalt Pill.

Repeat dose following veterinary advice.

IMPORTANT

To be effective the Cobalt Pill must be swallowed and lodge in the rumen. For best results use a Sheep Pill

Applicator to deliver the pill directly into the gullet. In areas where mineral deposits may coat the pill and

reduce release rates, a steel grinder should also be administered to maintain the surface of the pill clean and

active. Grinders may be purchased from the suppliers of this product. Intra-ruminal devices of a heavy

metallic nature (Selenium pills) will also provide a grinding action.

HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION

First Aid Measures

Swallowed:

Eye:

Skin:

Inhaled:

If swallowed do NOT induce vomiting.

If vomiting occurs, lean patient forward or place on left side (head-down

position, if possible) to maintain open airway and prevent aspiration.

Observe the patient carefully.

Never give liquid to a person showing

signs of being sleepy or with reduced awareness; i.e. becoming

unconscious. Give water to rinse out mouth, then provide liquid

slowly and as much as casualty can comfortably drink.

For advice, contact a Poisons Information Centre or a doctor at once

If this product comes in contact with the eyes:

Immediately hold eyelids apart and flush the eye continuously with

running water. Ensure complete irrigation of the eye by keeping

eyelids apart and away from eye and moving the eyelids by

occasionally lifting the upper and lower lids. Continue flushing until

advised to stop by the Poisons Information Centre or a doctor, or for

at least 15 minutes. Removal of contact lenses after an eye injury

should only be undertaken by skilled personnel.

If skin contact occurs:

Flush skin and hair with running water (and soap if available).

Seek medical attention in event of irritation.

Remove affected person from further exposure. Keep at rest until

fully recovered.

Acute Effects

Swallowed:

Chronic Effects

Accidental ingestion of the material may be damaging to the health

of the individual. Animal test indicate an increase in red blood cells

(polycythaemia) following the absorption of cobalt salts. [ICI] In toxic

doses soluble cobalt salts act locally on the gastro-intestinal tract to

produce pain and vomiting. Systemic effects in man include a

peculiar vasodilation (flushing) of the face and ears, mild

hypotension, rash, tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and nerve deafness.

[GOSSELIN, SMITH HODGE: Clinical Toxicology of Commercial

Products]

Although the material is not thought to be an irritant (as classified by

EC Directives), direct contact with the eye may produce transient

discomfort characterised by tearing or conjunctival redness (as with

windburn).

The material is not thought to produce adverse health effects or skin

irritation following contact (as classified by EC Directives using

animal models). Nevertheless, good hygiene practice requires that

exposure be kept to a minimum and that suitable gloves be used in

an occupational setting. Entry into the blood stream, through, for

example, cuts, abrasions or lesions, may produce systemic injury

with harmful effects. Examine the skin prior to the use of the material

and ensure that any external damage is suitably protected.

Unlikely to be a risk due to the solid nature of the product

No evidence of any long-term effects
