EffectsfromAcute Exposure

Ingestion: Irritation and/orburnscan occurto thegastrointestinaltract,

includingthestomachand intestines, characterized by

nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominalpain, bleeding

and/ortissueulceration.

Eye: Asevere eye irritant. Contamination ofeyescan resultin

permanentinjury.

Skin: Dermalexposure cancause severe irritationand/orburns

characterizedbyredness,swellingandscabformation.

Prolonged skin exposuremaycausedestruction ofthedermis

withimpairment oftheskinat siteofcontact toregenerate.

Inhalation: Thevapour(chlorine)isan irritantto themucous

membranesandrespiratorytract.Inhalationofdust will

resultin respiratoryirritation. Inhalation ofvapour

(chlorine) can resultin headaches, dizzinessand possible

nausea. Maycausepulmonaryoedema, pneumonitisand

emphysema. Inhalation ofhigh concentrationscan resultin

permanentlungdamage.

FIRST AID

Ingestion: Rinsemouth thoroughlywith waterimmediately.Give

waterormilk to drink. DONOTinducevomiting. Do not

givealcohol. Seekimmediatemedical assistance.Poison
