Data as published by the the National Occupational Health and Safety Commission (Worksafe Australia) and the American

Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists, Inc. (ACGIH). TWA is the Time-Weighted Average airborne

concentration over an 8-hour working day, for a 5-day working week over an entire working life. These values are issued as

guidelines for good practice. All atmospheric contamination should be kept to as low a level as is practically possible. These

levels should

not

be used as strict guidelines between safe and dangerous conditions.

The LD50 (rat) for copper sulfate is 300 ppm, although the lowest lethal dose reported following human ingestion is 50 ppm;

death resulted from massive haemorrhage. Individuals diagnosed with Wilson's Disease, pre-existing liver damage or

inherited deficiency of the enzyme glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase may be more susceptible to the effects of copper

ingestion than the general population.

ENGINEERING CONTROLS

Use with adequate ventilation to keep airborne concentrations below the levels indicated above.

PERSONAL PROTECTION

Avoid skin and eye contact. Wear overalls, chemical goggles and impervious gloves. Avoid breathing mist or vapour. If

vapour levels are high, use appropriate mask. Keep container closed. Use with adequate ventilation. Emptied container

may retain vapour and product residue. Observe all labelled safeguards until container is destroyed. Always wash hands

before smoking, eating, drinking or using the toilet.

FLAMMABILITY

Not combustible under normal circumstances. However, polymer films left after product has dehydrated are flammable.

Safe Handling Information

STORAGE AND HANDLING

SPILLS AND DISPOSAL

Contain spills and leaks to prevent discharge to the environment. Absorb spillage with clay, sawdust or other absorbent

material. Place all spilled material, contaminated dirt and other contaminated materials in drums. If possible, it is also

acceptable to contain spilled material and recover it as a liquid prior to disposal. Keep concentrated material out of sewers,

watersheds and water systems.

Dispose of in accordance with applicable local and state laws. Consult appropriate regulatory officials for information on

disposal. Disposal by incineration is recommended. Disposal of liquid in a waste-water treatment facility is also acceptable if

approved by the facility. Landfill disposal may also be acceptable if there are not any free liquids and if approved by the

landfill facility.

FIRE AND/OR EXPLOSION HAZARD

Not combustible under normal circumstances. Avoid contact with concentrated caustic mixtures - contact will result in the

evolution of heat. Avoid contact with strong oxidising agents.
