What Medirelief Suspension is used for

Medirelief Suspension is used for the

relief of gastric pain and discomforts of

peptic ulcer, heartburn, indigestion and

acid reflux. It also helps to relieve

gastrointestinal conditions caused by

excessive gas.

How Medirelief Suspension works

Medirelief Suspension contains Dried

Aluminium Hydroxide and Magnesium

Hydroxide which can react with

hydrochloric acid and convert to their

respective chloride salts in the stomach.

They reduce gastric acidity by

neutralizing secreted gastric acid.

Simethicone with its antifoam properties

allows mucus-surrounded gas bubbles in

the GI tract to coalesce and be expelled.

Before you use Medirelief Suspension

- When you must not take it

Do not take this product if you are allergic

(hypersensitivity) to Dried Aluminium

Hydroxide, Magnesium Hydroxide or

Simethicone. This product should not be

given to patients who severely debilitated

or suffering from kidney failure.

- Before you start to use it

This product should use with caution in

patients with renal insufficiency.

- Taking other medicines

May interfere with or reduce the

absorption of anticholinergic agents,

Barbiturates, Digoxin, Quinidine and

Vitamins.

Antacid can interfere with the absorption

of iron preparations, Tetracyclines or

other antibiotics.

Hence, antacids should not be taken

within 2 hours of other medications

because the effectiveness of the other

medications may be affected.

Suspension, take it as soon as you

remember. Never double up on the next

dose to make up for the one missed.

Symptoms of overdose may include

gastrointestinal irritation, diarrhoea and

constipation. Severe poisoning may

produce hypermagnesaemia.

Treatment consists of the intravenous

administration of Calcium Gluconate

injection 10% in a dose of 10 to 20ml to

counteract respiratory depression or

heart block. If renal function is normal,

adequate fluids should be given to assist

removal of Magnesium from the body.

Dialysis may be necessary in patients
