What Ventamol Expectorant is used

for

This medicine contains:

salbutamol which helps to relieve

chest

tightness

wheezing

breathe more easily.

guaifenesin which helps to reduce

the viscosity of thick sputum.

How Ventamol Expectorant works

salbutamol belongs to a group of

medicines

called

bronchodilators

which work by opening the lungs

airways to make it easier for air to

get in and out. This will help to

relieve

chest

tightness,

wheezing

and cough.

guaifenesin is an expectorant which

works by increasing the production

respiratory

fluid,

thinning

facilitating the removal of mucus.

Before you use Ventamol Expectorant

- When you must not use it

Do not take this medicine if:

hypersensitive

salbumatol sulphate or guaifenesin

or any of the other ingredients of

Ventamol Expectorant .

you are taking beta-blockers such

as propranolol.

- Before you start to use it

Tell your doctor if:

you have high blood pressure or

are diabetic

you suffer from thyroid disease

have

history

heart

problems

breastfeeding

plan

breastfeed.

pregnant,

think

pregnant, or plan to get pregnant.

taking

other

medicines,

including

those

available

without a prescription, herbal and

complementary medicines.

you have allergies to any other

medicines, foods, dyes or

preservatives.

- Taking other medicines

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you

are taking any other medicines in any

form

including

that

obtained without a prescription.

Some

medicines

interfere

with

Ventamol Expectorant.

They include:

medicines

asthma

such

aminophylline or theophylline

heart

medicines

which

belong

beta-blockers

group

such

propranolol

high

dose

corticosteroid

such

prednisolone

How to use Ventamol Expectorant

- How much to use

Your doctor will determine the amount

of medicine you should take based on

the severity of your condition. Take this

medicine in the dose prescribed by

your doctor.

Adult:

The usual dose is 10-20ml two to three

times a day.

Children (between 7 to 12 years)

The usual dose is 10ml two times a day.

Children (up to 6 years)

The usual dose is 5-10ml two times a

day.

- When to use it

Shake well before use.

Usually two to three times daily.

- How long to use it

You are advised to take it as long as

your doctor tells you to.

- If you forget to use it

Take the missed dose as soon as you

remember. If it is almost time for your

next dose, wait until then to take the

medicine and skip the missed dose. Do

not take a double dose to make up for

the missed dose.

- If you use too much (overdose)

Contact your doctor immediately or go

to the Emergency Department of your

nearest

hospital,

think

anyone else may have taken too much

of this medicine. Do this even if there

are no signs of discomfort or poisoning.

You may need urgent medical attention.

Overdose symptoms may include:

palpitation (irregular heartbeat)

tremor (unintentional trembling)

chest pain

bursting feeling

agitation (nervous excitement)

tachycardia

abnormally

rapid

heart rate)

peripheral

vasodilation

(widening

of blood vessel)

hypokalaemia

(deficiency

potassium in the bloodstream)

hyperglycaemia

excess

glucose in the bloodstream)

lactic acidosis (low pH in the body

tissues)

acute psychosis (mental disorder)

Take your medicine exactly as your

doctor has told you.
