NOTESTOMEDICALDOCTOR: Thisproductishighlytoxicifswallowed,andhaslow

dermaltoxicity.Itisexpectedtobehighlytoxicbyinhalation.Itisminimallyirritatingtotheskinand

practicallynon-irritatingtotheeyes,however,absorptionthroughthemucousmembranesoftheeyescould

behighlytoxic.Carbofuranisareversiblecholinesteraseinhibitor.Atropinesulfateisantidotal.Support

respirationasneededwithremovalofsecretions,maintenanceofapatentairwayand,ifnecessary,artificial

ventilation.Ifcyanosisisabsent:Adults-starttreatmentbygiving2mgatropineintravenouslyor

intramuscularly,ifnecessary,andrepeatwith0.4-2.0mgatropineat15minuteintervalsuntil

CHRONICEFFECTSFROMOVEREXPOSURE: Nodataavailableforthe

formulation.Instudieswithlaboratoryanimals,carbofurandidnotcausereproductivetoxicity,

teratogenicity,orcarcinogenicity.Chronicexposureoflaboratoryanimalstocarbofuranhascaused

decreasedcholinesteraseactivity(erythrocyte,plasma,and/orbrain).Anoverallabsenceofgenotoxicity

hasbeendemonstratedinmutagenicitytestingwithcarbofuran.Repeatedoverexposuretopropyleneglycol

canproducecentralnervoussystemdepression,hemolysisandminimalkidneydamage.Repeated

overexposuretocrystallinesilicaforextendedperiodshascausedacutesilicosis.IARChasclassified
