                                AKNEMYCIN® PLUS
SOLUTION
COMPOSITION
100g of solution contains erythromycin 4.0g and tretinoin 0.025g.
PHARMACOLOGY
Erythromycin has an antibacterial effect against Propionibacterium acnes, a skin bacterium 
which is responsible in the pathogenesis of acne. Erythromycin penetrates the sebaceous gland 
ducts following topical application, and has a bacteriostatic effect there.
Tretinoin (vitamin A acid) is a deep-acting keratolytic agent. It causes comedolysis and reduction 
in size of the sebaceous glands.
INDICATIONS
All forms of acne, both non-inflammatory forms with comedones and inflammatory forms with 
papules and pustules, particularly in the case of fat-rich skin.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Aknemycin Plus is applied directly to the skin from the special applicator bottle. Apply the  
solution once or twice daily to the affected skin after washing, unless otherwise directed by 
your doctor.
The duration of use depends on the condition of the skin and should not exceed 12 weeks.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Aknemycin Plus should not be given to patients who are sensitive to erythromycin or tretinoin. 
It should not be given to patients with acute eczema, rosacea, or acute skin inflammations,  
particularly in the mouth region (perioral dermatitis).
It should not be given to patients with a family history of cutaneous epithelioma.
DRUG INTERACTIONS
The simultaneous administration of other skin preparations should be avoided, as this could 
aggravate irritations to the skin.
Most significant incompatibilities with light, oxidising agents.
PRECAUTIONS / WARNINGS
Aknemycin Plus may not be applied in the immediate vicinity of the lips and nostrils.
Avoid contact with eyes.
UV rays (sunlight, sunray lamps, solarium), X-rays and bathing in chlorinated or salt water may 
aggravate the skin
