INDICATIONS

Poultry: For the control and treatment of chronic respiratory disease (CRD) in poultry caused by

avian mycoplasmas.

Swine: For the treatment of infections caused by organisms sensitive to the actions of lincomycin

and/or spectinomycin, including swine dysentery (Serpulina hyodysenteriae), post-weaning bacterial

enteritis and respiratory disease associated with Mycoplasma species.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Restraints

DO NOT use the water treatment and the feed treatment simultaneously.

Contraindications

This product is contraindicated for use in rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, horses and

ruminants. These species should not be allowed access to feeds containing Lincomycin.

Ingestion by these species may result in severe gastrointestinal effects.

Side Effects

Loosening of faeces and/or mild swelling and irritation of the anus and/or vulva have been observed

occasionally within the first two days after the onset of treatment in swine. This usually is transient.

On rare occasions, some pigs may develop reddening of the skin and irritable behaviour. These

signs usually diminish within 5 to 8 days without discontinuing the therapy.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

MIXING DIRECTIONS: Add the required quantity to about 5 litres of water. Stir until dissolved; add to

the water in the watering tank and mix well. Use medicated drinking water as the only source of

drinking water available to the animals during the period of treatment. Discard unused medicated

drinking water and replace with freshly prepared medicated water daily.

POULTRY: As an aid in the control of losses due to chronic respiratory disease in poultry caused

by avian mycoplasmas, administer at the rate of 150 mg of combined antibiotic activity/kg of body

weight per day for the first 3 to 5 days of life and at the rate of 50 mg of combined antibiotic activity/kg

body weight per day for one day at about 4 weeks of age. This dose rate approximates 10,000 birds

per package per day during the first week and 2,500 birds per package per day at 4 weeks of age.

The longer period of initial treatment is recommended if disease has been a problem on the premises

in the past.

For the treatment of outbreaks of CRD, add the contents of this pack to 200 litres of drinking water.

This provides 0.5 grams of combined antibiotic activity per litre. Begin treatment at the first sign of

disease and administer as the sole source of drinking water for 3 days.

SWINE: For the treatment of the indicated disease conditions, provide 63 mg of combined antibiotic

activity per litre of drinking water or add the contents of this package to 1600 litres of drinking water.

Provide medicated water as the sole source of water for 4 to 7 days. This provides approximately 6.3

mg of combined antibiotic activity per kg of body weight per day, assuming a daily water consumption

of 10% body weight. Begin treatment at the first signs of the disease.

Any variation by the prescribing veterinarian to the approved dose, frequency, duration, route,

disease or target species may require extending the approved withholding period.

Teratogenicity: No teratogenic effects seen in rats or dogs

Sensitivity: May cause hypersensitivity reactions

No specific data for Spectinomycin.

Section 12 - Ecological Information

BIODEGRADABILITY:

Lincomycin hydrochloride melts with decomposition at 148°C. It has no measurable vapour pressure; therefore it is

not expected to enter the air. Lincomycin hydrochloride is very soluble in water (500-1000mg/mL) and undergoes

hydrolysis at both acid and basic pH's at elevated temperatures. Lincomycin can be sorbed to soil, but it is readily

leached away from soils. Lincomycin is expected to be relatively mobile and migrate toward the aquatic compartment.

Lincomycin has a low octanol-water partition coefficient at all pH's. The octanol-water partition at pH 7 is 2.550.

Calculated flowing and static bioaccumulation factors are 2.21 and 9.96 respectively. Lincomycin will be expected to

migrate to the aqueous environment, but it should not bioaccumulate in aquatic organisms. Lincomycin will have

some initial inhibitory effects on the most sensitive micro-organisms until it is degraded. Small amounts sent to

sanitary sewage will not adversely effect the abiotic flora of sewage treatment facilities.

PERSISTENCE IN SOIL AND WATER:

Lincomycin hydrochloride can undergo hydrolysis at both acid and basic pH's at elevated temperatures. However, in

the pH range 3 to 6 at room temperature degradation is small. Lincomycin bioactivity is readily degraded by mixtures

of urine faeces and soil. The half-life of degradation was about 20 days.

No specific data for Spectinomycin.

Section 13 - Disposal Considerations

Disposal:

Containers should be emptied as completely as practical before disposal. If possible, recycle containers

either in-house or send to recycle company. If this is not practical, send to a commercial waste disposal site. This

product should be suitable for landfill. However, check with local Waste Disposal Authority before sending there. Note

that product properties may have been changed in use, significantly altering it's suitability for landfill. Please do NOT

dispose into sewers or waterways.

Section 14 - Transport Information

ADG Code:

This product is not classified as a Dangerous Good. No special transport conditions are necessary

unless required by other regulations.

Section 15 - Regulatory Information
