DIRECTIONS FOR USE-

HEMPEL’S ANTIFOULING ALU XTRA NCT 74770 is a TIN FREE self-polishing antifouling.

Recommended use: For technical particulars refer to product data sheet available from

Hempel (Australia) Pty Ltd, address shown at bottom of this label.

Surface preparation: For existing old self-polishing or ablative antifouling, remove possible

oil and grease etc. with suitable detergent, followed by high pressure fresh water cleaning

for a thorough removal of any possible weak structure of leached antifouling.

For existing old hard antifouling, abrade to remove old leached layer, remove possible oil

and grease etc. with suitable detergent, followed by high pressure fresh water cleaning for

a thorough removal of any possible weak structure of leached antifouling.

Application conditions: Apply only on a clean and dry surface with a temperature above

dew point to avoid condensation. The temperature of the paint itself should be above 15oC.

Do not apply in direct sunlight. In confined spaces provide adequate ventilation during

application and drying.

Application details: Apply 2 x 40 microns (dry film) of the product for good protection.

Add a third layer on sensitive zones as trailing edges, water line, rudder blade and keel.

When used at speeds above 15 knots, an additional coat must be applied. First coat of

HEMPEL’S ANTIFOULING ALU XTRA NCT 74700 may be applied on top of HEMPEL’S

UNDERWATER PRIMER 26030, HEMPEL’S LIGHT PRIMER 45551, HEMPADUR 47182,

or according to specification. At 40 micron dry film the theoretical consumption is 13.3 m2

per litre.

Thinner: THINNER 08081 or 08080. Keep thinning to a minimum to ensure that the correct

film thickness is obtained.

Method of application: Airless spray / Air spray / Brush / Roller / Paint pad.

Recoat interval, min./max.: No maximum overcoat interval, but after prolonged exposure

to polluted atmosphere, remove accumulated contamination by high pressure fresh water

cleaning and allow to dry before applying next coat.

Launching: Not before 24 hours after application of the last coat. After painting, the product

can be left out of water for up to 9 months.

This product contains active materials that can have detrimental effects on marine life.

DO NOT contaminate waterways with paint, dust and scrapings, or with used containers.

Storage and

Disposal:

Keep out of reach of children.

Store in the closed, original container in a cool, well-ventilated area. Do not store for

prolonged periods in direct sunlight.

Dispose of empty containers by crushing and disposing in an industrial waste bin or at a

municipal refuse disposal site. DO NOT pour leftover paint down drains. Keep unwanted

paint in sealed containers for disposal via specified chemical waste collections.

Safety Directions:

Harmful if inhaled or swallowed. Will damage eyes. Will irritate the nose, throat and skin.

Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Do not inhale vapour or spray mist. When opening the

container, mixing and using the product, wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and

wrist (or equivalent clothing), a washable hat, elbow-length chemical resistant gloves,

goggles, and impervious footwear. Wash hands after use. After each day’s use wash

gloves, goggles or safety glasses, respirator (and if rubber wash with detergent and warm

water), and contaminated clothing.

If swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting. If in eyes, hold eyes open, flood with water for at

least 15 minutes and see a doctor. If skin contact occurs, remove contaminated clothing

and wash skin thoroughly.
