before commencing treatment:

ESOMED Gel

Composition:

Active ingredient: Hydroquinone 4%

Inactive ingredients:

Purified water, Carbomer 940, Sodium

Metabisulfite, Sodium Hydroxide,

Methylparaben, Edetate Disodium.

Therapeutic Action:Bleaching of

hyperpigmented skin conditions.

When should the preparation not be

used?

Do not use if you are hyper-sensitive to

one of its ingredients.

Do not use if you are hypersensitive to

Sulfite.

A test for skin sensitivity should be

performed accordingly to the following:

apply a little amount of the gel to a small

portion of unbroken skin. In case of

sensitivity, signs will appear within 24 hours

- mild effects such as minor redness are

not necessarily a contraindication for use

(see "Side effects" below).

Do not use at the same time with a

preparation containing Hydrogen Peroxide,

Benzoyl Peroxide or another strong

oxidant.

This medicine should not be usedwithout

consulting your physician priorto

commencing treatment:If you are

pregnant or breastfeeding.

How will this medicineaffect yourevery

day life?

Avoid exposure of the treated area to sunlight

and use protective clothing (wear long

garments, a hat, use sun blocking or broad

spectrum sunscreen preparation, etc.).

Cover the treated area in order to prevent the

bleached areas from repigmentation.

This medicine is intended to be used in

combination with a sunscreen preparation of

at least SPF15.

Warnings:

If you are sensitive to any type of food or

medicine, inform your doctor prior to

commencing treatment.

Do not apply the gel to damaged, irritated or

sunburned skin. Do not apply to areas with

skin rash.

This preparation is not intended for the

prevention of sunburns.

It is advisable not to apply the gel to large

areas all at once, in order to prevent mild and

rarely caused dermal effects (see "Side

effects" below).

This gel contains skin bleaching agent and

may produce undesired cosmetic effects if

not used as directed by the physician.

Drug interactions:

If you are treated with another medicine at

the same time, or if you have just finished

treatment with another medicine, inform the

attending doctor in order to prevent hazards

or lack of efficacy arising from drug

Side Effects:

In addition to the desired effects of the

medicine, some side effects may occur during

treatment with this medicine such as: mild

burning sensation, mild redness.

Side effects which require special attention:

Hypersensitivity (irritation, blisters, skin

inflammation, shortness of breath) (rare):

Discontinue treatment and contact your

physician.

Prolonged use of this medicine might cause

Ochronosis (blue-dark pigmentation of the

skin, very rare): Discontinue treatment and

contact your physician.

In case you notice side effects not mentioned

in this leaflet or if there has been any change

in your general health, consult your physician

immediately.

Dosage:

The usual dosage, unless otherwise specified

by the doctor: Apply a little amount of the gel

to the affected area, twice daily, in the

morning and before bedtime.

Do not exceed the recommended dosage.

This medicine is usually not intended for

children and infants below the age of 12

years.

If no improvement is noted after two months

of treatment, refer to your physician.

Attention:

Do not swallow! This medicine is intended for

external use only.

Avoid contact of this preparation with eyes

and mucous membrane (such as in the mouth

and nose). In case of accidental contact with

eyes, rinse them thoroughly with water and

contact a physician.

Avoid poisoning!

This medicine and any other medicine must

be kept in a closed place out of the reach of

children and/or infants to avoid poisoning.

If you have taken an overdose, or if a child

has accidentally swallowed this medicine,

proceed to the hospital's emergency room

immediately and bring the package of the

medicine with you.

Do not induce vomiting unless explicitly

instructed to do so by a doctor!

Do not take medicines in the dark! Check the

label and the doseeverytime you take your

medicine. Wear glasses if you need them.

Storage:Below 25°C

Even if kept in their original containers and

stored as recommended, medicines may be

kept for a limited period only. Please note the

expiry date of the medicine! In case of

doubt, consult the pharmacist who dispensed

the medicine to you. Do not store different

medications in the same package .
