DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

RESTRAINTS:

DO NOT apply to crops that have restricted growth due to drought, stress, waterlogging, nutrient deficiency,

poor soil structure or any other cause as this can result in yield decreases.

DO NOT apply if adequate insect/mite control and supply of water/nutrients later in the crop growth is in doubt.

DO NOT apply eChem MEPIQUAT 38 if rainfall is expected within 8 hours of application as effectiveness may

be reduced.

SPLIT APPLICATIONS/MULTIPLE LOW RATES:

Apply at timings suggested below. Use crop growth

measurements such as internode length as a guide for

rate selection. Use the lower rate where internode

length is shorter or where there is a possibility of stress

occurring. Check varietal responses to mepiquat

chloride with seed producers. Do not apply more than

600 mL per ha in a single application prior to 1

flower.

250 - 600 mL

Apply the 1st spray at early squaring - squares the size

of match heads. Use the lower rate unless growth is

excessive according to plant measurements.

250 mL - 1 L

Apply the 2nd spray at approx 1st flower. Use the higher

rate where growth is excessive according to

measurements and there is little chance of crop stress

eg. moisture stress or water logging.

To regulate

fruiting and

vegetative

growth

250 mL - 1 L

Apply the 3rd spray at approx 14 days later than 1st

flower. Apply only if crop growth measurements, eg.

internode length indicates excessive growth is likely.

Apply between 1st flower and cut out to slow excessive

growth or induce cutout. Use the higher rate where crop

measurements such as internode length, or when cut

out is the aim of the application. Use the lower rate to

limit vegetative growth only. Do not apply to plants less

than 50 cm high.

NOT TO BE USED FOR ANY PURPOSE OR IN ANY MANNER CONTRARY TO THIS LABEL UNLESS

AUTHORISED UNDER APPROPRIATE LEGISLATION.

WITHHOLDING PERIOD:

DO NOT HARVEST FOR 4 WEEKS AFTER APPLICATION.

DO NOT GRAZE OR CUT FOR STOCKFEED ANY TREATED VEGETATION.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

eChem MEPIQUAT 38 is a foliar applied plant growth regulator, which alters the cotton plant growth pattern and

behaviour. One or more of the following effects may be produced in cotton: darker leaf colour, reduction of

internodal length, more open canopy, better boll retention, earlier maturity. Some of these effects may

favourably influence the yield potential of the cotton plant.

Export of Treated Produce

Growers should note that suitable MRL’s or import tolerances may not be established in all markets from

produce treated with eChem Mepiquat 38. If growing cotton for export, please check with eChem Australia Pty

Ltd for the latest information on MRL’s and import tolerances BEFORE using this product.

APPLICATION: eChem MEPIQUAT 38 may be applied using a split application technique, ie. 3 separate low

rate sprays applied at strategic times during the growing period. It can also be applied as a single application at

the 1st flower stage. Information on rates and timing is given in the “Directions for Use Table”. Use a total spray

volume to ensure adequate cover of foliage. Add an agricultural wetting agent to improve foliar coverage. If

eChem MEPIQUAT 38 is mixed with another product, the addition may not be necessary as one may be

present.

Application method. eChem Mepiquat 38 may be applied by air or ground equipment. Best results can be

obtained with total spray volumes of at least 20 to 30 L/ha for aerial application and 80 to 100 L/ha by ground rig.

MIXING: eChem MEPIQUAT 38 mixes readily with water. Add the required amount to the partly full tank, agitate

and fill to the desired level.

LODGING: Cotton treated with eChem MEPIQUAT 38 that has set bolls packed tightly together against the

stem may be more susceptible to lodging should adverse conditions occur.

PRECAUTION - Re-entry Period. Do not allow entry onto treated areas until the spray droplets have dried.

When prior entry is necessary, wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist and elbow length PVC

gloves. Clothing must be laundered after each day’s use.

COMPATIBILITY: Do not tank mix with foliar fertilisers. Although eChem MEPIQUAT 38 is compatible with

insecticides normally applied to cotton, always check compatibility in a small container prior to use.

PROTECTION OF WILDLIFE, FISH, CRUSTACEANS AND ENVIRONMENT: Do not contaminate dams, rivers

drains or streams with the chemical or used containers.

STORAGE AND DISPOSAL: Store in the closed original container, in a cool, well-ventilated

area. Do not store for prolonged periods in direct sunlight. Triple or preferably pressure rinse containers before

disposal. Add rinsings to spray tank. Do not dispose of undiluted chemicals on site. If recycling, replace cap

and return clean containers to recycler or designated collection point. If not recycling, break, crush, or puncture

and bury empty containers in a local authority landfill. If no landfill is available, bury the containers below

500mm in a disposal pit specifically marked and set up for this purpose clear of waterways, desirable vegetation

and tree roots. Empty containers and product should not be burnt.

For refillable containers - Empty contents fully into application equipment. Close all valves and return to point of

supply for refill or storage.

SAFETY DIRECTIONS: Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Wash hands after use.

FIRST AID: If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre (ph 13 11 26).
