Precautions for Safe Handling:

Use of safe work practices are recommended to avoid eye or skin contact and inhalation of vapours. Use only

outdoors or in a well-ventilated area.

Food, beverages and tobacco products should not be stored or consumed where this material is in use.

Always wash hands before smoking, eating, drinking or using the toilet. Wash contaminated clothing and

other protective equipment before storage or re-use. Provide eyewash fountains and safety showers in close

proximity to points of potential exposure.

Store in a cool, dry and well ventilated area, out of reach of children. Keep container tightly closed. Store only

in original container out of direct sunlight. Protect from physical damage. Keep away form acids, acidic salts,

paper products. Large quantities should be stored in a bunded dangerous goods store.

Acute Health Effects

Inhalation:

Vapours will cause irritation of the nose and throat with inflammation of the lungs. High vapour levels of

chlorine can cause coughing, difficulty breathing, chest pains, swelling of the mucous membranes and cramps

in the muscles of the larynx, creating risk of suffocation.

Skin:

Corrosive, may cause severe, deep burns.

Eye:

Corrosive, risk of serious damage to the eyes, corneal burns and possible loss of sight.
