ANASTROL

Tablets

Composition:

Each tablet contains: Anastrozole 1 mg

Inactive ingredients:

Lactosemonohydrate,sodiumstarchglycolate,povidoneK25,magnesiumstearate,

hypromellose,macrogol6000,hydrogenatedcottonseedoil,maizestarch,titanium

dioxide.

Each tablet contains: 92.750 mg lactose.

0.126 mg sodium.

Therapeutic group:Aromatase inhibitors.

Therapeutic activity:

Treatment of breast cancer in post-menopausal women.

When should the medicine not be used?

Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or pre-menopausal.

Donotusethismedicineconcomitantlywithtamoxifenormedicinescontaining

oestrogens(femalehormones),forexample,hormonereplacementtherapy,asit

may lessen the effect of anastrozole (see also “Drug Interactions” section).

Donotusethismedicineifyousufferfromaseverekidneyfunctionimpairment

or mild to severe liver function impairment.

Donotusethismedicineifyouhaveaknownsensitivitytoanyofitsingredients.

The preparation is not intended for children.

Donottakethismedicinewithoutconsultingadoctorbeforestarting

treatment in the following cases:

Ifyouaresuffering,orhavesufferedinthepast,fromanimpairmentordiseasesthat

affecttheliverorkidneys,ifyouaresufferingfromanyconditionthataffectsbone

strength(osteoporosis),ifyouaretakingmedicinesbelongingtotheLHRHgroup

(medicinesfortreatmentofbreastcancer,certaingynaecologicalproblems,infertility)

or any other medicines including non-prescription medicines that you purchased.

If you have a known sensitivity to lactose.

How will this medicine affect your daily life?

Thismedicineisunlikelytoimpairalertnessortheabilitytooperatemachinery.

Somepatientsmayoccasionallyfeelweakorsleepy-inthesecasesavoiddriving

or operating machinery.

Warnings:

Incaseyougointoahospital,youmustinformthemedicalstaffthatyouaretaking

Anastroltablets.

Anastrollowerstheleveloffemalehormones,whichmayleadtoalossofthemineral

contentofthebones,reductionoftheirstrengthandconsequently,anincreasedrisk

of fractures. Consult the doctor about this risk and treatment possibilities.

Ifyouaresensitivetoanytypeoffoodormedicine,informyourdoctorbefore

commencing treatment with this medicine.

Anastrolcontainslactose,whichisatypeofsugar.Ifyouhavebeentoldbyadoctor

thatyouareintoleranttocertainsugars,consultthedoctorbeforetakingAnastrol.

Thetabletsalsocontainsodiumstarchglycolate,titaniumdioxide,whichmaycause

problems in a small number of people who are sensitive to these substances.

Do not stop treatment unless explicitly instructed to do so by the doctor.

Drug interactions:

Ifyouaretakinganotherdrug,includingnon-prescriptionmedicinesandfood

supplements,orifyouhavejustfinishedtreatmentwithanothermedicine,inform

theattendingdoctor,inordertopreventhazardsorlackofefficacyarisingfrom

drug interactions.

DonottakeAnastroltabletsifyouaretakingmedicinescontainingoestrogen(e.g.,

hormonereplacements),hormonalpreparationsfromtheLHRHgroup(medicines

fortreatmentofbreastcancer,certaingynaecologicalproblems,infertility).Seealso

“When should the preparation not be used?” section.

Side effects:

Inadditiontothedesiredeffectofthemedicine,adversereactionsmayoccurduring

thecourseoftakingthismedicine,forexample:hotflushes,headache,nausea,

diarrhoea,rash,thinningofthehair,jointstiffnessandpain,vaginaldryness,feeling

sick,moodchanges,lackofappetite,highcholesterollevels,sleepiness,vomiting,

vaginalbleeding(usuallyinthefirstfewweeksoftreatment)-shouldunexplained

syndromemanifestedbytinglingsensation,pain,coldnessandweaknessinparts

of the hand.

Changesinliverfunctionvaluesandcholesterollevelinbloodtestsperformedduring

treatment withAnastrolmay be observed.

Side effects that require special attention:

Severeallergicreactionswhichmaycausedifficultybreathingordizziness,swellingof

theface,lips,tongueorthroatandbreathing/swallowingproblems;verysevereskin

reactions with bruises, ulcers or blisters - contact the doctor immediately!

These reactions are very rare (a ratio of less than 1 to 10,000 patients).

Liverdamage,thesymptomsofwhichare:feelinggenerallyunwellwithorwithout

jaundice(yellowingoftheskinoreyes),darkurine,lossofappetite-contactthe

doctor immediately.

Intheeventthatyouexperiencesideeffectsnotmentionedinthisleaflet,orifthere

is a change in your general health, consult your doctor immediately.

Dosage:

One tablet daily.

Dosage is according to doctor's instructions only.

Do not exceed the recommended dose.

This medicine is not intended for children.

Thismedicineistobetakenatspecifictimeintervalsasdeterminedbytheattending

doctor.

Ifyouforgettotakethismedicineatthespecifiedtime,takethenextdoseaccording

to the fixed and regular schedule.

Ifyouaccidentallytakemorethanyournormaldose,proceedtothenearesthospital

or contact the doctor immediately.

Directions for use:

Do not chew! Swallow the tablet with water.

The tablet can be taken with or without food.

How can you contribute to the success of the treatment?

Complete the full course of treatment as instructed by the doctor.

Thetreatmentislong-term.Youmayberequiredtousethemedicineforseveral

years.

Evenifthereisanimprovementinyourhealth,donotdiscontinueuseofthismedicine

without consulting your doctor

Avoid poisoning!

Thismedicine,andallothermedicines,mustbestoredinasafeplaceoutofthe

reach of children and/or infants, to avoid poisoning.

Ifyouhavetakenanoverdose,orifachildhasaccidentallyswallowedthemedicine,

proceedimmediatelytoahospitalemergencyroomandbringthepackageofthe

medicine with you.

Do not induce vomitingunless explicitly instructed to do so by a doctor!

Thismedicinehasbeenprescribedforthetreatmentofyourailment;inanother

patientitmaycauseharm.Donotgivethismedicinetoyourrelatives,neighbours

or acquaintances.

Donottakemedicinesinthedark!Checkthelabelandthedoseeachtimeyoutake

your medicine. Wear glasses if you need them.

Storage:Below 30°C.

Evenifkeptintheiroriginalcontainerandstoredasrecommended,medicines
