Dieses Arzneimittel ist ein Vitaminpräparat.

Folgamma

Mono wird angewendet zur Therapie von Folsäuremangelzuständen, die diätetisch nicht behoben

werden können.

Was sollten Sie vor der Einnahme von Folgamma

®

Mono beachten?

Folgamma

®

Mono darf nicht eingenommen werden,

wenn Sie allergisch gegen Folsäure oder einen der in Abschnitt 6. genannten sonstigen Bestandteile dieses

Arzneimittels sind.

wenn eine Blutarmut infolge gestörter Entwicklung der roten Blutkörperchen (megaloblastäre Anämie)

vorliegt, da der durch Folsäuregabe hervorgerufene Anstieg der jungen roten Blutkörperchen

(Retikulozyten) einen Vitamin-B12-Mangel maskieren kann. Wegen der Gefahr irreversibler neurologischer

Störungen ist vor Therapie einer Blutarmut sicherzustellen, dass diese nicht auf einem Vitamin-B12-Mangel

beruht. Die Ursache einer megaloblastären Anämie muss vor Therapiebeginn abgeklärt werden.

Mono einnehmen, wenn das Risiko einer megaloblastären Anämie infolge eines Vitamin B

-Mangels besteht.

Auch bei einer lebensbedrohlichen megaloblastären Anämie muss wegen der Gefahr bleibender Schäden des

Nervensystems vor Therapiebeginn ein eventueller Vitamin B

-Mangel ausgeschlossen werden (Sicherstellung

von Serum- und Erythrozyten-Proben und Bestimmung des Vitamin B

-Gehaltes).

Einnahme von Folgamma

®

Mono zusammen mit anderen Arzneimitteln

Informieren Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker, wenn Sie andere Arzneimittel anwenden, kürzlich andere Arzneimittel

angewendet haben oder beabsichtigen andere Arzneimittel anzuwenden.

Unter der Behandlung mit Mitteln gegen Anfallsleiden (Antikonvulsiva) kann es zu einer Zunahme der

Krampfbereitschaft kommen.

Bei Gabe hoher Dosen kann nicht ausgeschlossen werden, dass sich Folsäure und gleichzeitig verabreichte

Hemmstoffe der Folsäure (Folsäureantagonisten), wie z. B. bestimmte Arzneistoffe gegen bakterielle Infektionen

oder Malaria (Trimethoprim, Proguanil, Pyrimethamin) und Methotrexat (Wirkstoff u. a. zur Behandlung von

Tumoren), gegenseitig in ihrer Wirkung hemmen.

Die gleichzeitige Verabreichung von hohen Dosen Folsäure mit 5-Fluorouracil (einem Mittel zur Behandlung von

Tumoren) bewirkt eine Erhöhung der Wirksamkeit und auch der Giftigkeit von 5-Fluorouracil. Es können schwere

Durchfälle auftreten.

Chloramphenicol (Wirkstoff zur Behandlung von Infektionen) kann das Ansprechen auf die Behandlung mit

Folsäure verhindern und sollte deshalb nicht an Patienten mit schweren Folsäuremangelerscheinungen verabreicht

werden.

Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit

Wenn Sie schwanger sind oder stillen, oder wenn Sie vermuten, schwanger zu sein oder beabsichtigen, schwanger

zu werden, fragen Sie vor

Einnahme dieses Arzneimittels Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker um Rat.

Für Dosierungen bis 5 mg Folsäure pro Tag sind keine Risiken bekannt. In höheren Dosierungen als 5 mg pro Tag

darf Folsäure in der Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit nicht angewendet werden.

Verkehrstüchtigkeit und Fähigkeit zum Bedienen von Maschinen

Es sind keine Auswirkungen hinsichtlich einer Beeinträchtigung der Verkehrstüchtigkeit und des Bedienens von

Maschinen zu erwarten.

Mono enthält Lactose-Monohydrat.

Mono daher erst nach Rücksprache mit Ihrem Arzt ein, wenn Ihnen bekannt ist, dass

Sie unter einer Unverträglichkeit gegenüber bestimmten Zuckern leiden.

Wie ist Folgamma

®

Mono einzunehmen?

Nehmen Sie dieses Arzneimittel immer genau wie in dieser Packungsbeilage beschrieben bzw. genau nach der mit

Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker oder dem medizinischen Fachpersonal getroffenen Absprache ein. Fragen Sie bei Ihrem

Arzt oder Apotheker oder dem medizinischen Fachpersonal nach, wenn Sie sich nicht sicher sind.

Die empfohlene Dosis beträgt 1 Tablette Folgamma

Mono pro Tag (entsprechend 15 mg Folsäure).

Art der Anwendung:

Die Tabletten werden unzerkaut zu den Mahlzeiten mit ausreichend Flüssigkeit eingenommen.

Dauer der Anwendung:

Die Dauer der Behandlung ist vom Ausmaß des Folsäuremangels abhängig und richtet sich nach dem klinischen

Bild und gegebenenfalls nach den entsprechenden labordiagnostischen Messgrößen und wird vom Arzt für jeden

Patienten bestimmt.

Bei Patienten mit Krampfleiden (Epilepsie), die mit Antiepileptika behandelt werden, muss die Konzentration

dieses Arzneimittels im Blut sorgfältig überwacht werden.

Wenn Sie eine größere Menge von Folgamma

®

Mono eingenommen haben, als Sie sollten

Bei gelegentlicher höherer Dosierung sind keine Überdosierungserscheinungen zu erwarten.

Bei Patienten mit Anfallsleiden kann es jedoch zu einer Zunahme der Krampfbereitschaft kommen.

Bei hohen Dosierungen (über 15 mg pro Tag und länger als vier Wochen) können bitterer Geschmack,

Appetitlosigkeit, Brechreiz, Blähungen, Alpträume, Erregung und Depression auftreten.

In diesen Fällen sollten Sie sich mit Ihrem Arzt in Verbindung setzen.

Wenn Sie die Einnahme von Folgamma

®

Mono vergessen haben

Nehmen Sie nicht die doppelte Menge ein, wenn Sie die vorherige Einnahme vergessen haben.

Wenn Sie die Einnahme von Folgamma

®

Mono abbrechen

Bevor Sie die Einnahme der Tabletten von sich aus beenden wollen, sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt darüber.

Welche Nebenwirkungen sind möglich?

Wie alle Arzneimittel kann auch dieses Arzneimittel Nebenwirkungen haben, die aber nicht bei jedem auftreten

müssen.

Selten (tritt bei 1 bis 10 Behandelten von 10.000 auf)

Magen-Darm-Störungen, Schlafstörungen, Erregung und Depression bei sehr hohen Dosierungen.

Bei gleichzeitiger Gabe von 5-Fluorouracil können hohe Folsäuredosen zu Schleimhautintoxikationen (z. B. in

Form von schweren Durchfällen) führen (vgl. Abschnitt „Einnahme von Folgamma

®

Mono zusammen mit anderen

Arzneimitteln“).

Nicht bekannt (Häufigkeit auf Grundlage der verfügbaren Daten nicht abschätzbar)

Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen z. B. in Form von Hautrötungen (Erythem), Juckreiz, Luftnot (Bronchospasmus),

Übelkeit, schwere allergische Reaktion (anaphylaktische Reaktion) oder Kreislaufkollaps (anaphylaktischer

Schock).

Wie ist Folgamma

®

Mono aufzubewahren?

Bewahren Sie dieses Arzneimittel für Kinder unzugänglich auf.

Sie dürfen dieses Arzneimittel nach dem auf dem Umkarton angegebenen Verfalldatum nicht mehr verwenden.

Das Verfalldatum bezieht sich auf den letzten Tag des angegebenen Monats.

Nicht über 25°C lagern. In der Originalverpackung aufbewahren, um den Inhalt vor Licht zu schützen.

Entsorgen Sie Arzneimittel nicht im Abwasser oder Haushaltsabfall. Fragen Sie Ihren Apotheker, wie das

Arzneimittel zu entsorgen ist, wenn Sie es nicht mehr verwenden. Sie tragen damit zum Schutz der Umwelt bei.
